HIGH SHEAR INLINE MIXERS — POWDER DISPERSERS & EMULSIFIER MIXERS
Quadro Liquids designs and manufactures precision inline high shear mixing equipment that solves the liquid processing and powder dispersion challenges that conventional in-tank mixers cannot. As a division of IDEX MPT, Inc., Quadro Liquids has built a global reputation for innovative, single-pass inline processing technology that delivers unmatched performance, consistency, and scalability — trusted by leading manufacturers in pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, personal care, cosmetics, and chemicals worldwide.
The fundamental advantage of Quadro Liquids equipment is the single-pass inline approach: instead of recirculating material repeatedly through an in-tank mixer — with all the batch-to-batch variability, air entrainment, and extended processing times that entails — Quadro Ytron mixers apply the full required dose of shear energy to every particle of product in a single controlled pass through the inline mixing head. The result is dramatically shorter batch times, better product quality, less waste, and highly repeatable results from lab scale through full production.
Trotter Equipment represents Quadro Ytron across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Through a strong partnership and shared commitment to customer success, we deliver high shear mixing and dispersion solutions with a focus on process optimization — reducing batch times, improving product quality, and delivering measurable, long-term manufacturing improvements.
Why Single-Pass Inline Mixing?
Conventional in-tank mixing — using batch rotor-stator mixers, colloid mills, or agitated vessels — processes material unevenly: some product passes through the high-shear zone many times while other material bypasses it entirely. The result is inconsistent product quality, extended batch times, and high energy consumption. Quadro Liquids single-pass inline technology eliminates these problems:
- Every particle receives the same shear — All process material passes through the high-shear mixing zone once, receiving exactly the targeted energy input. No bypassing, no over-processing, no under-processing
- Batch time reductions up to 90% — Single-pass processing dramatically reduces the time required to reach target particle size, dispersion quality, or emulsion stability compared to conventional batch recirculation
- Superior product quality — Results are completely free of lumps, agglomerates, and fish eyes. Batch-to-batch consistency is significantly improved over in-tank mixing
- Minimal air entrainment — Inline processing dramatically reduces air incorporation compared to open-tank mixing, reducing or eliminating deaeration time and protecting sensitive ingredients
- Maximum raw material yield — Complete incorporation of expensive ingredients with no undispersed material left in the vessel or on vessel walls, reducing waste and raw material cost
- Scalable from lab to production — Process results developed at lab or pilot scale transfer directly and predictably to full production, eliminating the costly re-development often required when scaling from in-tank to production equipment
- Sanitary and cleanable — Inline design with minimal product-contact surfaces is inherently easier to clean and validate than large in-tank mixing vessels
Quadro Ytron Equipment
Quadro Liquids manufactures two core product lines — the Ytron ZC inline powder disperser and the Ytron Z inline emulsifier mixer — each engineered for a specific class of high shear liquid processing application. Both are available in four sizes from laboratory through full production and in sanitary 3-A certified construction.
Quadro Ytron® ZC — Inline High Shear Powder Disperser
The Quadro Ytron® ZC is the definitive solution for incorporating difficult-to-disperse dry ingredients into liquid streams — thickening agents, rheology modifiers, gums, starches, proteins, and other powders that agglomerate or form lumps when added to liquid using conventional methods. The ZC uses intense high-shear tooling to shear and fully hydrate powder in a single pass through the inline mixing head, producing a completely lump-free, fish-eye-free dispersion in a fraction of the time required by conventional mixing methods.
The ZC can achieve solids dispersions of up to 70% by weight depending on the product, and its minimal air entrainment greatly reduces or eliminates deaeration time. In many applications the ZC eliminates the need for additional dispersants or wetting agents entirely — reducing raw material cost and simplifying the formulation.
- Batch time reductions up to 90% compared to conventional in-tank powder addition and mixing methods
- High shear tooling for intense powder shearing action prior to hydration — the key to eliminating agglomerates
- Steep-walled hopper designed for poorly flowing powders that would bridge or hang up in conventional hoppers
- Minimal air entrainment — reduces or eliminates deaeration time and protects oxygen-sensitive ingredients
- Full-flow ball valve maintains mass flow of powder through the hopper for effective and consistent powder incorporation rates
- 3-A Sanitary Standards certified — designed and constructed for sanitary food, beverage, and pharmaceutical processing
- No-tool disassembly for fast, maintenance-friendly cleaning and product changeover
- Optional Uniform Film Interface (UFI) hopper for continuous powder dispersion — enabling high solids incorporation rates up to 50% by weight or higher, controlled metering of powder for consistent concentration, and reduced aeration in continuous processing applications
- Optional ergonomic powder dump table integration for operator safety and ease of use
- Accurately scalable from pilot to production volumes — process results from the ZC0 lab model transfer directly to the ZC1, ZC3, and ZC5 production models

Quadro Ytron® Z — Inline High Shear Emulsifier Mixer
The Quadro Ytron® Z Inline Emulsifier delivers unparalleled consistency and control for high shear liquid-into-liquid process applications including emulsifying, homogenizing, wet grinding, deagglomeration, and fine solids dispersing. The Ytron Z achieves repeatable product quality at production efficiencies exceeding those of conventional high shear mixers such as in-tank rotor-stator mixers, colloid mills, and shear pumps — in a single inline pass.
The Ytron Z uses multiple rows of sequential toothed rotor-stator tooling operating at high differential velocities, creating numerous high-shear zones that every particle of product must pass through. This multi-stage design ensures that no product bypasses the shearing action — delivering a tighter droplet size distribution, improved emulsion stability, and better product texture than single-stage inline mixers or recirculating in-tank systems.
- Multiple-row toothed rotor-stator tooling — as many as three stages of sequential high-shear zones ensure complete, uniform processing with no product bypassing
- High differential velocities — achieving shear rates and droplet size reductions that exceed colloid mills and many other inline technologies
- High degree of process flexibility — tooling available in a variety of slot sizes for fine-tuning of shear intensity and multi-process changeovers
- Variable speed control — optional variable speed drive enables precise adjustment of shear energy and direct scale-up from lab to production with industry-leading precision
- Sanitary clamped housings for easy cleaning and optional CIP execution — designed to meet 3-A Sanitary Standards
- Single and double mechanical seal options for high-temperature, high-pressure performance in demanding process conditions
- Stainless steel wetted parts throughout, well suited to sanitary processing and washdown duty environments
- Improved product texture and sheen versus colloid mills and in-tank rotor-stator mixers
- Precise scalability — the Ytron Z allows greater precision in scaling any emulsification process from lab to pilot to production than conventional batch processing approaches
